Bellingham Technical College offers certificates of completion in professional technical education that you can complete in as little time as three quarters. You’ll build new, in-demand skills to start—or enhance—your career path. Choose from four areas in the field of computer technology.

Cloud Computing Certificate

• Certificate of Completion: 15 credits, 2 quarters

BTC is a Microsoft IT Academy member and is a member of CompTIA. 

Computer Programming Certificate

• Certificate of Completion: 15 credits, 2-3 quarters

Study introduction to programming as well as two levels of C++ programing.

Network Management Certificate

• Certificate of Completion: 15 credits, 2-3 quarters

Study Windows desktop, Windows servers, and other network technology.

Computer Applications Specialist

• Certificate of Completion: 62 credits, 3-4 quarters

If you enjoy combining technical and customer service skills in a variety of business and office settings, you can train for positions such as computer support specialist, software specialist, help desk specialist, training and support coordinator, or PC support specialist. The average annual wage in this field is $50,669, with an earning potential of about $62,525 per year.

Computer Network Support

• Certificate of Completion: 64 credits, 3 quarters

Train for positions such as network technician, network specialist, network administrator, network security administrator, help desk specialist, or Local Area Network (LAN) technician and work in a wide range of firms from corporations and financial institutions to schools and universities. Learn how to manage computer networks, troubleshoot and repair computer systems, and design, install, and maintain LANs. The average annual wage in this field is $73,117, with an earning potential of about $86,486 per year.

Data Entry Specialist

• Certificate of Completion: 42 credits, 3-4 quarters

Choose this program to train as a data entry specialist, clerk typist, note reader, or word processor. You’ll develop valuable skills needed by employers in nearly every sector. Some data specialists are even able to telecommute, working from their homes on computers linked to their employer’s main office. The average annual wage in this field is $30,188, with an earning potential of about $37,086 per year.

Health Information Technology 

• Certificate of Completion: 64 credits, 3 quarters

BTC’s Health IT program offers classroom theory and hands-on experience in computer network systems management for health care. Students learn to troubleshoot and repair computer systems, and to design, install, and maintain Local Area Networks (LANs). You’ll also gain an in-depth understanding of the health care industry—from information security to the latest health care trends to manage costs, improve patient care, and transition to electronic health records. No prior computer experience is needed to apply to this program.

The health IT field is growing, with a projected 20 percent increase in jobs through 2020. The average annual wage in this field is $50,669, with an earning potential of about $62,525 per year.

Health IT program graduates are eligible to return to BTC and complete an AAS degree in Computer Networking—which only takes about a year.
