Veterinary Technician: Students with an aptitude for math and science will first complete pre-program general education courses, then take seven quarters to complete an Associate of Applied Science—Transfer (AAS-T) or two quarters for your Veterinary Assistant certificate. You'll learn how to:

  • Care for animals in a manner that is safe for both animals and humans.
  • Understand and participate in the process of diagnosis, therapy, and prevention of animal disease.
  • Understand the profession of veterinary technician including: occupational safety, public health, client and colleague communication, ethics of animal welfare, and the human-animal bond.
  • Be prepared to take the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) and state exams, and fulfill requirements for licensure as a veterinary technician.
